Identifying the Giant Eland:

The Lord Derby Eland or Giant Eland is the largest subspecies of Eland within Africa. Like all eland they have spiral-type horns at the base which smooth out near the top of the horn. Other than the size, the most distinguishable trait this animal acquires is the black mane which grows during the breeding season. This mane does eventually shed when breeding season passes!!! The Lord Derby Eland are most commonly found roaming the Savanna and Woodlands of Cameroon, and can often be found around sources of water.
